Baku are a type of Fae that consumes dreams and nightmares, and can cause both in humans in order to create a food source. They can also counterbalance the effects of a Mare.
A batibat is a species of fae that belongs to one tree, and one tree belongs to them. They are generally a peaceful Fae until someone cuts down their tree. Every sliver is a part of them and they won’t let any of it go, to the point where they’ll kill to get it back. The tree is its home, and if taken from them they are compelled to get it back – a primal instinct they cannot ignore.
Batibats have great physical strength and durability and are immune to sonic attacks like those of a siren, due to living with birdsong their entire lives.
This species has two forms. One is that of a friendly, older looking woman whereas the other is a large grotesque creature with tree branches growing from its back.
Huldra are seductive forest fae that takes the form of an attractive woman. They have a hollow back and a cow or fox tail. Huldra will bring luck to those that treat them with respect, and are often skilled healers and/or hunters. They are extremely long lived and strong.
Selkies are seal shifters who shed their pelts when they take human form. The pelt is necessary to transform back into seal-form, and should they be kept from their pelt they can weaken and die.
Selkies also have the power of seduction, and the ability to talk to all sea life. Fae who are half or part selkie, while not able to fluently understand sea life, can get a sense of what they are thinking/experiencing. All selkies – full and part blooded – are extremely strong swimmers and can hold their breath longer than the average human.
Siren's are creature's of deadly song. A siren can only be born if one of their parent's is also a Siren. Most believe that Siren's are only female, but rarely a non-female Siren will be born. If this is the case, it is their whistle rather than their song that is dangerous.
A female Siren's whistle is not as powerful as their song.
As well as being able to cause death when powerful enough, Siren's can evoke a variety of emotions in the listener, depending on the control they have over their vocals.
While Siren's can appear mostly human, when using their vocal's their feature's sharpen. Younger Siren's who are still learning to control their powers will usually shift into nearly full avian form when using their vocals. This means they have the body of a bird, and the neck and head of human.
Siren's with more control over their abilities can shift into a half form - they have the wings of a bird, sharpened feature's, and some even have a soft down of feathers covering their skin.
Illusionists are able to make the imaginary and impossible seem real. From pulling a rabbit from an empty hat, to creating a forest in a city flat. It varies depending on the illusionist and their personal talents.
An elemental is someone who can control a certain element. How they control it varies person to person.
Ghosts are the earth bound souls of the dead - most commonly the souls of those unable to cross to the other side. This could be for a number of reasons - unfinished business with the living, refusal to believe they are dead, and so on.
It can take several years for a ghost to learn to move items and make themselves known to the living. Even longer to begin taking on a semi-corporeal form. When they do, they appear washed out and not entirely opaque, appearing as they did when they died.
If a ghost had supernatural abilities when alive, they can learn to control them in death.
